The Yellow Submarine are well-known for their devotion to unearthing both young talent and South American influences, and that seems to be the case once more as they make contact with River.
The Spanish club have apparently offered $12.5m (€8m) for 50% of the rights to defender Gustavo Cabral, midfielder Matías Abelairas and forward Andrés Rios, as well as three young players.
As well as the money, River would also receive Mariano Barbosa, a former Villarreal goalkeeper who currently plays for Recreativo de Huelva.
€8m can be considered a modest sum, but the club chairman, José Maria Aguilar, is apparently keen that the board at least entertain the notion, given that it could prevent the three from departing immediately to other clubs.
Still, the board are apparently puzzling over the amount of money that would go to the agents involved in smoothing the deal, particularly considering that negotiations between the clubs are hardly rocky.
And money now could see a downturn in income later, as was the case with Gonzalo Higuaín. While at River the young forward's rights were partially purchased by a group of investors led by Pinhi Zahavi, meaning that in the end Los Millonarios earned relatively little from his eventual move to Real Madrid.
